Additionally, there is an entry level Firefighter pay and yearly increases for entry level and higher salaries for candidates that are promoted to higher ranks within the Fire Department. For one of the largest Fire Departments in the world, the NYC Fire Department, the starting based pay is ranged from $45,000 to $55,000. Additionally with overtime and holiday pay, which is often required, you can get additional compensation. After five years, a Firefighter can make more than $100,000, including overtime and holiday pay.

According to Civil Service Success, a frequently overlooked aspect of a firefighter’s compensation is the benefits package, which includes medical, dental, pension, holiday pay, paid time off, sick leave, uniform allowances, and more.
